Sara E. Pope*

Sara E. Pope* is a founding member of Reed Pope Law Corporation and leads the firm’s Real Estate Law Group. Sara’s practice focused on real estate development projects including:

  • Multi-staged master planned communities, mixed-use commercial and residential strata projects, phased strata plan developments, and complex land and strata subdivisions
  • Strategy and advice for phasing, staging of servicing, utilities and project-amenities, and cost sharing amongst development community members
  • Recreational and resort real estate (including fractional interests, headlease/sublease structures, timeshare and condominium hotels, rental pools, and home owner associations) throughout BC, and specifically in the East Kootenays, Whistler, Big White Ski Resort, Parksville, Tofino and Sooke
  • All contracts and agreements relating to real estate development marketing and sales (disclosure statements, purchase contracts, amenities use agreements, rental management agreements, service contracts, leases, and licences)
  • Strata corporation development and governance; the creation and structuring of Owners Associations to represent or organize development community interests; municipal agreements, including subdivision servicing and phased development agreements; project sales and conveyancing
  • All aspects of development and land title practice (easements, right of ways, covenants, statutory building schemes, registration of subdivisions and strata plans, road dedications, and crown land tenure such as foreshore leases
  • Advising on matters arising out of the Real Estate Development Marketing Act, Real Estate Services Act, the Land Title Act, and the Strata Property Act

Community Involvement

  • Co-author of the chapter on phased strata plans in the BC Continuing Legal Education’s Strata Property Practice Manual. This manual received an international award for professional excellence in the “best publications’ category
