R. Keith Reed*
Keith Reed*, a Principal of the firm, provides his services through R. Keith Reed Law Corporation a shareholder of the Firm.
Keith focuses on the real – the tangible – interests of his clients so that legal requirements are met and legal services support but do not drive their businesses.
Keith’s primary practice areas include the financing of start-up and developing companies; assisting angel, venture capital and private investors; and establishing and maintaining investment funds, limited partnerships, and mutual fund trusts. Capital raising transactions, while focused on Canada, include in and out bound investment. He is experienced in private placement, prospectus exempt, capital raising and regulatory compliance under applicable securities laws.
He also assists clients, including First Nations, in business and enterprise formation, organization, development and transformation; business transactions; commercial real estate transactions; and commercial and mortgage financing.
He advises on and assists in negotiating, structuring and documenting business contracts and relationships, including related cross-border support.
Through a network of contacts and membership in professional and business organizations in North America and abroad, Keith is able to secure and coordinate the activities of local counsel and experts in many specialized disciplines.
He has broad experience in assisting start-ups and emerging companies, and with the legal issues surrounding technology commercialization.
Keith brings to his practice experience and understanding of the issues facing the business community gained while serving as the CEO or COO of a number of real estate development, tourism development, and construction material supply companies, and while serving on the boards of private investment, software developers, application service providers and start-up companies, and through his involvement in civic, charitable, community, cultural, educational, and professional organizations.
