Sara E. Pope

SARA E. POPE IS A FOUNDER AND PARTNER OF REED POPE, and heads the firm's Land Development department. Sara's practice focuses on real estate development projects such as multi-staged master planned communities, resort offerings (including fractional interests and condominium hotels), mixed-use commercial and residential strata projects, phased strata plan developments, and complex subdivisions. She has represented developers of high-profile resort and recreational projects in the BC East Kootenays, Whistler, Big White Ski Resort, Parksville, Sooke and Tofino. Of particular interest to Sara is working with clients through all stages of their development. She seeks to add value by participating in the creation of the development strategy, identifying the legal issues to be addressed early on in the project, and collaborating closely with clients on the steps needed to complete the project through to the sales.

On the professional side, in March 2011, Sara became a member of the Urban Development Institute (UDI) Victoria Board. In addition, Sara was co-chair of the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch Vancouver Island Commercial and Real Estate Section from 2008 to 2010. She also co-authored the chapter on phasing in the BC Continuing Legal Education's Strata Property Practice Manual. This manual recently received an international award for professional excellence in the "best publications" category. Sara also was a presenter as the Spring 2011 Victoria UDI Development School seminar on real estate joint ventures and in a past year chaired a seminar for the Victoria UDI, where she spoke about air space parcel developments. Before moving to Victoria in 2003, Sara was a partner at a major law firm in Vancouver, BC.
